Lineage Adena
Very few differentiating literature is written about Lineage Adena. The basic premise is that Adena is the currency used in the highly successful MMORPG Lineage (1 and 2). Think of it as virtual money or a credit card or if you’re sort of traditional (as in Julius Caesar traditional), gold. When you go on-line in Lineage, you spend, you buy things, you barter (trade) with Adena.
Like your usual money, you also earn your Adena but not the way we do it in the real world. Work to earn Adena in Lineage means you defeat monsters, complete quests or you do trading with other players. If you have a Clan, taxing is a good way of getting your Adena. In the virtual world, there are also things or possessions that players are more than willing to pay at great costs. It is not unusual that some fanatical players would go to great lengths in acquiring Adena; at times, even paying actual money (as in real world money) to get Adena in places as common as eBay or Amazon.
Because of such importance, some players actually shift from being “just” players to “online businessmen” or what are called gold farmers. This “farmers” (mostly Chinese, believe it or not) play online primarily for the purpose of looting virtual treasures to sell all over the world!
As such, Adena also has counterparts in other MMORPGs, such as 2Moons Gold, 9Dragons Gold and so on. Who knows, Adena could become a future of online Euro.
